USB on old Mac

Greetings. I've got a golden oldie with no USB ports. I know there are
pci cards to add USB for these machines, but I don't have any free pci
slots. However, I do have a free SCSI port and two free serial ports
(i.e., printer and modem).

There are a lot of adapters out there to connect SCSI devices to USB
machines--but is there such a thing as the reverse? Or, alternatively,
an adapter to connect USB through one of the DB-8 comm ports? If so, who
makes 'em?

Maybe You should ask in an appropriate newsgroup. This newsgroup is for
hardware from HP, not from Apple...

But if You have no free PCI slot You won't get any USB ports...
