So have had the Xbox One controller adaptor for a while now, computer did some windows update and I restarted the computer. When it rebooted it gave me a screen with comp info and said USB Over Current Status Detected will sit down in 15 seconds. After some plugging and unplugging and rebooting discovered it only happens when the Xbox One controller adaptor is plugged in. Any ideas? Never had an issue until today. Thanks.

Too much current was being pulled though a hub this will cause the hub to turn off, then back on when the current demands drop. It really causes performance problems so windows added the pop-up to notify the user of the problem. Move the device to another root usb port or powered hub. Apple devices also tend to pull too much current but anything with a recharging battery could also cause this. Some pc have special Apple charger usb ports and drivers that override the max sub current and prevent the pop-up.
