Question USB port has tape on it?

Hi everyone, I have a new Lenovo laptop and on one of the ports there seems to be some tape? I can’t remove it very easily and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be removed. The USB port functions perfectly fine. Do I need to be concerned? Some advice would be appreciated. 🙏

Okay, I will try - thanks. Do USB ports which are just manufactured normally have tape over it? Seems a bit odd.

After carefully using some tweezers I managed to remove it, was just some sticky tape. Thank you!

Now, let's hope it's a fully functional USB port.

I hope it wasn't taped over because some QA person found out it was dead!

In a perfect world, companies employ a Quality Assurance team to test systems and components before shipping.

As to the USB port, just insert a USB stick in it and copy some files back and forth. Compare the copy speed with the expected installed USB port type 1.x, 2.x, 3.x, etc. Or you could use UserBenchmark (which can test everything):
