I have an ASUS laptop X751L.
Yesterday the USB ports and wifi stopped working within a couple hours of each other.
When plugging in a USB device the laptop makes an audible signal that it picks it up but nothing happens after that.
I have Windows 10 installed on it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

You may try the following;

- Remove your power supply or charger plug from PC. Then Restart PC.
- After restart, connect your USB devices to any USB ports.
- Now you can plug in power supply to laptop or PC.

If you receive a USB Device Not Recognized error,

“The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.”
Or
“One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.”

Please try the following;

Please try the following;

- After the USB device is connected to your PC, then plug in Power Supply to the PC.
- Open RUN (Windows Logo + R) and type “devmgmt.msc” and click OK.
- Now expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Attach your device which is not recognized.
- You will see an Unknown USB device (Port reset failed) with yellow sign in Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Now right click on it and click Uninstall to remove them.
- Now restart your PC and re-install the USB drivers again. That’s it.
- If it is still not working, then Uninstall all devices under Universal Serial Bus controllers one by one and re-install.

For your Wifi concern;

Step 1: To begin, launch Command Prompt as Admin. To do this, simply right click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.

Step 2: Enter the following command and hit the Enter key:

reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f

Step 3: Now enter this command, and press Enter once more:

netcfg -v -u dni_dne

Step 4: Preferably, you should restart your computer and check back with your Wi-Fi settings. All networks around you should now be visible and you should be able to connect to them easily.
