usb ports do not work everything is unknown device

Hello

I just formated my new laptop with windows 7 genuine

I cannot use any usb or ethernet ports so I am not able to install any drivers at all....

only sound plays for some reason idk...

PLEASE HELP

Go to Devices and Printers and see if its listed there.
Then right click and choose troubleshoot.

Is marked as unknown device in Device Manager?

Try updating all your drivers epecially the USB drivers.
It seems like the usb is not at fault if it is detected

How am I supposed to update the drivers since I cannot even connect it to the internet via ethernet....?

Get the drivers on another computer, and burn them to a disc

Or if you dont have a DVD drive can you boot from USB?

If so try with a linux LiveCD image loaded to USB instead, should be able to use both net and USB that way, download what you need save it to your hard disk, then reboot in windows

Only works if you have access to another computer to load the image on the usb key but it's worth a shot

I will first reformat it with win7 x64 as I only found drivers for 64bit and then if the problem is still there I will do this.

Because you were on 32 bit windows

i dont know.. The laptop has 2gb Ram so i thought 32bit would be just fine

Since its a laptop another thing you can do is install the software that came with the computer.

No software came with it as it was a freedos purchase
