Question Usb ports not working

Hello.
My usb ports suddenly stopped functioning except for 2 ports( one from the back and one from the front) any idea what might be the problem/solution.
I have a dell optiplex 3010, windows xp 32 bits. If you need any informations about the computer let me know.

you could try going to device manager + uninstalling the usb controllers and then detect hardware to reinstall drivers?

Check you have the latest drivers, BIOS etc.

Sometimes Device Manager lets you know when the computer can not communicate with a component on the motherboard. It illustrates it as a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. Not having the proper driver may prevent the USB ports to communicate. Sometimes you need the Chip set Driver for USB Ports to work.

If that does not work, have you tried opening the system and physically look at the ports connections? The front USB ports have a cable that go to the motherboard and the rear are soldered to the motherboard. Could the leads be burned preventing them to work? Or could the front USB port cable not be connected?
