I haven't noticed this with other games. I've played the Witcher and Overwatch since I reinstalled Windows and Overwatch is what reproduces this. I have left my PC on overnight and woken up to all my USB ports still working, its not till I play overwatch do most of my USB ports stop working.

I got a new Samsung 960 pro m.2 SSD recently and reinstalled windows onto it. Its running beautifully, but now during Overwatch all my USB ports die except for one or two. All of the front panel ones stop working and all of the back ones stop working with the exception of the bottom two.

Motherboard: Asus x99 Deluxe
CPU: 5930k
SSD 1: 960 Pro
GPU: 980ti

When I restart my PC, the usb devices come back on but add new entries to device manager. This is currently what my device manager looks like for USB devices:
Asmedia USB Root Hub
Asmedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller
Generic Superspeed USB Hub
Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub

Intel USB 3.0 exTensible Host Controller -1.0 Microsoft
USB Composite Device

Its not a matter of 3.0 vs 2.0 because two 3.0 ports work out of the 12 I have on the back and none of the front panel ports work after the trigger.

The devices I have plugged in are:
Yeti Mic
Blackwidow
Naga
Two hard drives
Xbox One wireless adapter
Sometimes a flash drive

This has never really been an issue since I reinstalled my OS. Not sure where to go from here.

"... and reinstalled windows onto it. .."

Assume you re-installed all of your MB drivers after the windows install. MB chipset drivers make the USB ports work.

Assume you got windows up to speed with service (run windows update, then reboot, then run it again)

What I'd do is delete all of the usb stuff in device manager. then reboot and let windows rediscover it and reinstall the correct driver. Sometimes the wrong driver gets loaded. Sometimes the correct driver gets corrupted.

Good luck.

When I uninstall things it just adds more stuff to my device manager. If i uninstall one of the USB Root Hubs, three or four take its place. Similarly with my mice. I now have seven entries for my Razer Naga and six for my Blackwidow.

I get error code 43 on my USB 3.0 root hub. I've uninstalled the driver and rescanned and have not gotten anywhere with it unfortunately. I have the most up to date motherboard chipset drivers from the asus website.

I've no help for you then, that behavior I have not seen. Hopefully someone else will jump in. good luck.

Hi,
I have the same problem as you, when I play an online games (like Overwatch) all USB stops working and I have to restart my system to make the USB works again ((this when I use Ethernet cable)). But when I use WiFi connection the problem occurs and my Ping rise to 2000+ "but" I don't have to restart my system to make the USB works, it is disconnecting and reconnecting in its own when i use WiFi, but when I use Ethernet it is disconnecting and never reconnect again.

Anyway, I use ASUS strike x99 gaming motherboard, and I am about to buy a new board because I didn't find any solution for this problem + it is not stable board I can't OC my CPU with it. if you find a fix to this problem pls tell me.
