Hi Everyone,

First post, I hope someone can help me with this.... I recently built a x99 system and the build has one issue which I cannot seem to figure out. Here are the specs:

Motherboard: GA-X99-Gaming G1 WIFI (1.0), BIOS Ver: F7
Video Card: EVGA GeForce 760
CPU: i7-5820k
Hard drive: 2x Samsung 850 PRO 256GB in RAID0
Operation System: Win 7 64-bit, SP: 1
Memory size and brand: 16GB, G.Skills DDR4
Power Supply: EVGA

The issue that I am having is that when I restart the PC, and if it has any USB devices like USB 3.0 hubs, flash drives, etc. the system posts to gigabyte logo and then shuts off. It restarts and then comes up to gigabyte logo and shuts off and restarts again. If I disconnect the USB devices, the PC boots normal - no blue screens, no performance issues, nothing.

I've tried booting it with just one memory module, tried different order in which the memory is installed, reseated all the cables. I also tried disabling all possible boot devices in BIOS and just had OS drive and still it does the same.

I am now thinking about taking it apart and rebuilding it but maybe someone here has better idea on how to troubleshoot this further? Please help.

thanks!

Updated: The F8c BIOS version is available and linked to below.

You might try updating to the F8a BIOS. Perhaps there's something in the update that addresses the issue. These are too new for anybody to know much about yet so aside from that or updating the USB drivers, Gigabyte might be your best source of solutions until more time has passed.

There is also an updated USB driver here:

It's not just the Gigabyte boards. Most of the X99 boards have had similar or equally frustrating issues in some form. And for future readers, always consider that experienced builders and techs always recommend that you not rely on automatic utilities of the sort which provide BIOS updates. In nearly every case automatic features for some reason don't seem to reliably update to the most recent versions in a timely fashion. This might be due to laziness in updating data in update servers or some other reason but the bottom line is to find and update manually if you want to ensure you have the most recent version of any given firmware, regardless of device.

Not really related, but i do have a question. I am finishing up a Gigabyte x99 ud5 wifi build, and i am wanting to install windows 8.1 pro in raid0 across 2 ssd's. The mobo manual is not clear on how to do this with this particular mobo. Most mobo's i have built with have a raid0 driver on the driver installation c.d. that i can pull the driver off of during boot up and put the driver on a thumb drive and install the raid0 driver, but this gigabyte x99 ud5 wifi does not seem to have that driver on the c.d., and the manual is saying that windows will have the drivers needed, but i find that funny because windows will not be installed yet. How do i set up raid0 for windows 8.1 installation? Any help would be great.

I would start a new thread on this. You'll get more response and we kind of frown on thread hijacking or Necroing threads with unrelated posts. Just make a new thread in the storage section. That's where you're most likely to get the best answers.

Really not a big enough question to start a new thread on. Just wondering if i needed a driver from somewhere, not a big deal.

I know it's a bit late, but which firmware are you talking about? is it the driver that posted on this thread?

Thank you.
