My USB stick had movies and loads of music on it. One day I put it in the tv and the kids had somehow over-ridden the music folder. I put it in the laptop to see what happened and there were no files on it. I checked the storage availability and I had nearly none. So the files are there somewhere, I just can't find them. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there rachelrachel,

I would advise you to use some data recovery tool and scan the flash drive. If you manage to recover some data, I would advise you to save it on another hard drive in order not to overwrite the data. Check this out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
Apart from that, you say that when you access the device you see nothing while it shows that some of the storage space is full right? If this is the case you can check whether the files got hidden in some way. Check this out: http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-501267-all-folders-in-external-hard-drive-are-hidden

Hope this will help,

Hello,

Try this 1.

May be the files are in hidden mode.

Click on "Start" -->Run-->type cmd and click on OK.

Here I assume your external hard drive as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Don't forget to replace the letter g with your external hard drive letter.

Now press "Enter".

Now check for your files in external hard drive.

Good Luck.
