USB Wireless Network Adapter Ping Vs PCIe

How much better ping would I get with this: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WDN4800-Wireless-Express-Low-profile/dp/B007GMPZ0A/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1412984338&sr=1-2&keywords=wireless+network+adapter

I generally get around 35-45ms ping with speedtest.net.

But I still need the bets ping I can possibly get, I would go ethernet but I cannot wire across my hallway to the router. Question: Does ping mostly come from computer > router or is it more from router > server? Which uses up the most ping?

It depends. Your wireless adapter to the router will tell you how your hardware performs. Your adapter to the server (I am assuming the internet server) will tell you how well your ISP performs.

Yes you can. Out the door, up the wall, across the ceiling, down the wall...into the room.

Ping is the total time it takes for a remote server to respond to a signal you sent. Round trip time.

Your pc - router - ISP - multiple other servers - target
Your PC to the router is a very minor part of the chain.

Normally with my wired connections, I have ping times of less than 5ms (usually 1-2ms) between the router and all my connected devices. Ping times to internet servers are usually 20ms - 50ms, depending on the server, it can be higher or lower.....it depends on a lot of factors.

If you are pinging your local devices in less than 5ms, I double another adapter will improve internet ping times.

As a temporary test situation, run a Cat5e cable. See what happens.
