I have a new desktop build no WiFi on board. Prefer wired lan for gaming. Want to connect to my cannon pixma mg5220 wireless print/scan/copy. Can a wireless usb dongle allow that to be done? I have comcast and their wireless modem, printer finds and connects but I can not find it on my desktop or in the modem under connected wireless devices. I have limited knowledge of devices gateways and network programming so I thought if the usb dongle will allow......thanks!

Leaving it connected to the router is the better answer. You need to use the front panel of the printer and print the status report that describes the network configuration for the printer. It should be set to DHCP to start with.
