Hi

I've decided to install Linux on an external HDD or thumb drive, of course the thumb drive is more expensive, that's way I want to know, if I bought a very fast 64gb thumb drive like this one: http://goo.gl/hbkSnr ,instead of this HDD: http://goo.gl/Gev3a8 , would it be worth it?
My laptop specs:
5700HQ
960M
8Gb ram

Thanks

It could be faster, but thumb drives are not designed for repeated write operations. You might find one day you cannot write anymore on your thumb drive.
I found myself using SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 32GB Version. Extremely fast unit. I'd say It may not designed for some things. But this thing will last VERY long time. I've been using it for about a year now. Had a writable Live CD on it as well as Actual installation. Worked very good. And it's like 23 Grams weight no power needed 😀
