Hi. First let me say that I am a tech novice so I will try to word this correctly.

I currently use WIFI throughout my home. I am starting a new job where I will need to hardwire the Ethernet cable directly to my PC. My question is will my family be able to still connect to WIFI while I have the Ethernet cable removed from the wireless router?

Any guidance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Solution
1) Why do they require to you to be hard wired?
2) Don't connect from the Modem to your PC. That is a BIG NO NO and can leave you wide open and it wouldn't allow internet on the router. If you need to be hardwired connect the cable to one of the LAN ports (usually the bunch of 4 ports together). This will keep you protected and wifi still working.

I will be doing a work-at-home position for Teletech, and one of their requirements is that the computer I will be working from be hardwired to my PC. They say wireless does not work on all of their platforms.

Your solution makes sense. I also appreciate the warning about what NOT to do.

Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it.

Take care!

By hardwired they mean plugged into the router. You can plug into a LAN port on the router and still have wireless. You CANNOT take the wire from the modem and plug it in bypassing the router and still maintain WIFI and as said, you shouldn't plug in directly to a modem.
