I have a computer with a router and modem. The computer is plugged into its own power strip. The router and modem are plugged into their own power strip. My question is, is it okay to put a power remote switch on that strip that turns the modem and router on. It would mean the power strip would always be on but that I could turn the power on remotely. Would this damage the modem and router in any way by turning the power strip on with the remote switch instead of the rocker switch on the power strip. Reason? Grand children. I need some way of turning it off and being able to use my computer by itself. They run my time out on my internet and I am tired of having to get up and turn it on on off for them.
