I have bought an used Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB Hard Drive at an Thrift Store. I tried to plug the Hard Drive in an computer that once ran Windows XP, assuming that it would have XP on it. I boot it up and I get an message that I have insufficient RAM to run the Operating System. By the looks of the OS, I assume that it is running Windows 8 or 8.1.

So, I plug the Hard Drive in a computer with the sufficient memory to run Windows 8 and 8.1. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12660/windows-8-system-requirements

I turn it on and it boots up as normal and it has three accounts. I select on one and it works normally. I turned off the computer and the next time that I boot up the Hard Drive, I select on the Guest account and it gives me the welcome text and the loading circle that spins and spins. When I click or type anything, it completely becomes frozen and the computer stops working. Now when I boot the Hard Drive up, it automatically tries logs in as the Guest Account and it become frozen when anything is typed or clicked.

Any suggestions?

By the way, I am new to the forum and if I do anything wrong, let me know.

Thanks!

You are trying two things wrong:
- Windows installs are not "movable" between computers.
- You're trying to break into someone' computer (there is no proof this disk came from a trift store, and not stolen), knowingly or not

The proper way to use this disk: Reformat it, and either put new OS on ot, or use as a storage.
