I had a question that revolved the RTX 3000 Series (in terms of the EVGA RTX 3080/3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming) how much should I be paying for used GPUs? Is $900 & $1,200 a realistic price for both of these GPUs? Or should I look into lower prices like $700/$750 for the RTX 3080 Ti (EVGA) and $900 for the RTX 3090 Ti (EVGA)? Because I planned on building some PC that used those x2 GPUs... Was looking for some GPUs that could last for 3-5 Years before needing to upgrade again....

Yes these are are Offerup specials, Both being sold by the same seller, hoping to get/find a combo deal for both??

These are absolutely horrific prices. You're literally paying more for used GPUs than the price of new, equivalent and new, better GPUs, that are also available for purchase right now.

Unless the combo deal gives you a $600 discount or something, there's no reason to spend time considering it.

Darn, I was really hoping to get x2 RTX 30 Series GPUs because the PCs I planned to build featured them... Plus I had been wanting an RTX 3080 Ti & RTX 3090 Ti (EVGA FTW3 Ultra Gaming 12GB & 24GB) for a while now, or atleast when the RTX 4000 GPUs blew up in popularity I thought I could find a "killer" deal on both an RTX 3080 TI + RTX 3090 Ti....

I was temped to get an RTX 4080 since those are still in stock + they have a warrenty, But I didn't want to deal with the extra "Dongles" that the RTX 4000 Series GPUs came with nor GPU cables melting.... etc....

But I still want an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti (Main Rig) & EVGA RTX 3090 Ti (Backup Rig) Since both of my PCs are terribly out of date (Spec-Wise)

The used market is going to take advantage of the current situation, so I don't think prices will go down any time soon.

Also sticking a 30 series card in a "terribly out of date" computer isn't the best ideas either. If the power supply isn't grossly overbuilt, the transient spikes the higher end 30 series does will kill it. And even then, if you don't have a decent CPU, it'll prevent the cards from running as good as they could.

You don't want to use four sticks of RAM for these newer Intel builds if you can help it due to the memory controller.

Obviously it is what you are personally comfortable with but used GPU's with no warranty and no definitive way of knowing what their history is. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 50% of MSRP.

I forgot to mention that if I bought those GPUs, I have a PC Shop that I could bring them to for stress-testing (since I don't have a testing rig setup) and they could tell me If I lucked out or got screwed, But I guess it's the roll of the dice (Lucky or Unlucky)

Also I did the math of the GPUs (When New) RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming 12GB - $1499.99 MSRP -50% = $749.99/$750
RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming 24GB - $2199.99 MSRP -50% = $1099.99/$1100
Prices came directly off of EVGA's Website....

Again, these are horrific prices. MSRP for old GPUs has zero value. We're talking half price off a comparable performing new product. A 4080 is a better performer than a 3090 Ti and can be had for $1200-$1300 new. Even if we assumed they were the same, then you should be talking half off that price to be interested in a 3090 Ti, not half price off a slight evolution of a three-year-old GPU. In other words, something around $600 to $650. I probably wouldn't even go that high on an iffy marketplace with fewer protections. Similarly, a 4070 Ti, easily available for under $850, is a better performer than a 3080 Ti, so the original $1500 MSRP for a 3080 Ti should have zero value in making a decision.

A shop testing doesn't really help all that much as anything useful they can do, you can do (seeing if it works, making sure the vBIOS is right, checking ofr obvious damage). It's not like bringing a used car to a mechanic, you can't see the damage to a GPU in the same way you can see the Audi leaking oil internally.

I'm very worried about your frame of mind going into this as I'm concerned it's setting you up for an expensive disappointment.

I did find, another RTX 3080 Ti 12GB (EVGA) and an RTX 3090 (EVGA) too,

RTX 3080 Ti (Other): Other RTX 3080 Ti - Seller asking $1,250 "Like new Great Gpu, No problems, Never been over clocked, Still has warranty " $1,250 again expensive, Unsure about OBO for price (Possible Receipt)?

RTX 3090 (Non Ti): EVGA RTX 3090 (Other) - Seller asking $950 "Comes with box and everything". No idea on a warranty/e-receipt. Don't know if seller is flexible on price $950 is still expensive

Essentially I am just trying to stall out for an RTX 3080 Ti/3090 Ti, Since the RTX 4000 GPUs were way to overkill, used too much power, not to mention the RTX 4090's power cables melting, aaaand the whole RTX 4000 GPUs coming out at a bad time when an RTX 3000 GPU aka 3080/3090 Ti were a much better buy than a 4000 will ever be and the RTX 4090 when was announced at it's $1,600 MSRP? Nope Last Gen GPUs aka 3080's/3090's way better, Plus EVGA doesn't even make the RTX 4000 GPUs they backed out at the right time, lol

These are just really, really awful deals.

You can buy a 4070 Ti new cheaper right now and it's better than a 3080 Ti and at least close to a 3090. They used a ton of power too.

The melting power has been in only a handful of people with 4090s and haven't seen any reports yet of 4080. Spending hundreds and hundreds of extra dollars and getting something used instead of new because of a niche issue covered by warranty is a horrible, horrible tradeoff.

If that's what you're determined to do, of course, I cannot stop you. Sometimes lessons have to be expensive.

About that those GPUs I mentioned in the begining, I've been chatting with the seller just playing detective, to figure out what they've done with the GPUs and and how well they've taken care of them (GPUs).... here's what he said: (If anyone is curious)

"All of my cards have had the thermal pads replaced because the stock thermal pads are garbage. They get blown out for dust twice a year. They have minimal power on and off cycles. The 3090 TI is basically brand new. It had maybe a couple months of usage on it and then sat on a shelf. The 3090 TI is the only card that I have not needed to replace the thermal pads on".

"Most of the cards are about a year old or less. And I am the original purchaser of all the cards, I have receipts for everything".

"As for condition, I can put any card upon request on a test bench and run any test you may request" (which is something I worry about when buying used)

Many other have mentioned this but have you not even looked at the reviews. If you compare 3090ti to 4080 and 3080ti to 4070 the 40 series cards always outperform and use LESS not more power.
The also exceed the performance of there corresponding card in almost all benchmarks.

Even at 50% off the cost is almost the same as what you can get the 40 series card new with warranty.
You seemed very determined to buy used cards no matter what. Do you not have the ability to buy the 40 series cards new.

This is one of the many reviews that show the comparisons between those cards. Almost every other review site has similar numbers.

I still think $1000 video cards are crazy prices and for me that is a lot of money and I would not want to risk it. That is a lot of money to trust some unknown individual on the internet.

When I said 50% of MSRP, I should have said reasonable selling price today. Taking that into account I would put a limit of $400 for a 3080Ti Second hand and $450 for a 3090Ti. Undoubtedly you wont get them for that but second hand no warranty, I personally wouldn't risk more than that even with all the evidence that they are Kosher
