Using 6+2 pin and 6 pin from same cord on GTX 770

Quick question for powering my EVGA GTX 770 2gb i need 42a on the 12V rail. My Antec 650 80+ gold has 30A on each 12V rail. I have 2 PCI-e cords and each has two 6+2 connections on the end. I'm currently only using 1 cord to power it (one 6+2 connection and the other 6 pin with the extra 2 hanging off). Should I be using my 2nd cord to power the 6 pin socket?

I would run off using another PCIE cable. But check your psu manual. It should say how the 12V rails are split and which rails is used for which.

heres the manual http://www.antec.com/pdf/manuals/TP-650C_Manual_EN.pdf and im using 1 8 pin(4+4) which was a dedicated cpu cord if that means anything

You need these cables. One to plug in 8 pin with the 6+2 and one with the 6 pin only with the two pin hanging out.
I believe on single cable has a 6+2 pin and one 6 pin connector on the end
