Question Using a laptop charger to power monitor

I cannot find the original power cable for this Lenovo monitor. I found a laptop charger with the same V to A ratings. Will it work or damage the monitor overtime? This connector does fit with the monitor. Here is a link to view the following images.

You need to ensure the polarity of the center pin vs. outer surface on the power supply match that of the monitor.

Outside of what @Grobe said, yes you can do that. In fact, ASUS tends to do this across their products (my PG279Q has basically the same power brick as one of their laptops that I bought).

Pretty sure it does, It looks slightly different? You are able to click the next arrow on the image to see.

Whatever's on the right is the center pin, whatever's on the left is the outer sleeve. So in this case, both are center positive, so it'll work.
