Using a TV as a computer monitor

Good day all,

I would like to get some feedback on on somthing. I am planing to switch from my AOC 20 inch 1080p lcd monitor and instead use a 32 inch LED Samsung TV that is 720p.

I will mainly be using it mainly for my rig system to look at movies online and play games. I would like to know if this is a wise decision and what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this.

These are some of my pc specs:
evga GTX650 2gb sc
AMD FX8350
8gb ram

I actually did this for a few months, since I didn't have the correct cables to connect to a monitor. From my experience, as a result of the lower PPI on most TVs it looks very different than an LCD monitor would look, because TVs are meant to be viewed from a longer distance. I think that it would work fine if that's what you wanted to do, but you would have to be further away from the screen for it to look like a similar quality.

Also, don't take my advice as the sole resource for your decision, this is purely from my personal experience, no technical basis or anything.

Thanks so much for your quick response masonbo. Yes i will definitely be sitting further away from the TV. Am reading an article which states that using tvs as monitors runs a risk of getting high input lag as compared to normal monitors. Will this drastically affect the sole purpose of the tv as a monitor?
