using an external hard drive as an internal one

Hello.
I am getting two hard drives for my computer. One ssd to run programs off of, and one hhd for storage (files, documents, movies, etc.).
I am trying to decide which would be the best hhd; and whether or not it would be wise to use an external hard drive, open it, and install it. I have read that external hard drives are slower, but not sure of the impact that has.
Looking at the Seagate 2.5 Barracuda (internal) and expansion (portable) both either 1 or 2 TB.
Thank you.

As I tried different kinds of brand, it really depends on your fortune, I once suggest my favorite brand to one of my friends and it got broken for few days.

Seagate is a decent brand but some of their models may have issues (actually most brands are...)

My advice is stick to the specification and locate the brand or model, then looking for any recall of this models. If there is not much complaint about this model, go for it.
Still suggesting you to use the internal HDD if you need to storage your data. However, it depends on if your data is portable or not. If not, use the internal HDD then and choose the bigger cache and RPM rate.

Thank you, I appreciate your help. Would you also have any suggestions as to which hard drive brand would be best?
I was think earlier of the seagate, but have read some bad reviews and saw that only the higher end ones have the better warranty.
Thanks.
