Hi All,

I have a couple of Buffalo External HDD's that I used to use for backups. They both use USB 2 and I decided I wanted USB 3 speeds to transfer data to and from the drives so I purchased an Inateck Dual Bay USB 3 Dock.

One of the Buffalo drives is a WD Green drive which works fine in the dock, however the other drive is a Samsung HD103UI drive that simply refuses to appear in either Windows 7 nor Ubuntu whilst connected through the dock. The drive works fine when connected via its external enclosure and I can hear/feel it spinning when its in the dock.

I've tried re-formatting the drive to NTFS and FAT32 with no success.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this? I'm thinking that the drive either does not support USB 3 or the firmware is somehow not letting me use it in another enclosure/dock. The drive is listed as a Buffalo External HDD in diagnostic programs, is this a custom firmware that Buffalo have used? Or is it because the drive is connected through the Buffalo enclosure?

Thanks.
