Basically for 4-5 years I've been stuck only playing Civ 6 and xcom 2 since only they will play decently. So after a lot of researching and updating I narrowed down the reason to the quite infamous I might add , kb5001330 kb601554 but they are a key component or so it would seem on all windows version 20h1 and above.

I am thinking of trying to preinstall with 1809 but I am worried if there are some major repursions.

CPU: I5 7500 3.4 Ghz up to 3.8 Ghz
GPU:MSI 1060 6gb gaming trio ( OCed a bit nothing major 100/450)
RAM: 16 GB of 2133 Kington hyperfury x (clocked trough xmp profile for what I understand).

If you can run the system without any internet, then you have no reason to update though please be forewarned that practically every software have an expiry date stamped into their code, so chances are you might end up with a borked OS sometime in the future.

One known issue with Windows 10 and it's update is that KB5034441 wouldn't go through for most individuals. It required users to recreate their bootable USB installers, dissolve the partitions on their OS drive, so the installer recreated the partitions. Namely the recovery partition to a slightly larger size. To add, you shouldn't be on Windows 10 as Microsoft will no longer support the OS, in favor of Windows 11 and above.

Out of curiosity, what OS version have you updated to...as in a clean install?

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Just updated it the newest one on the asus site - the motherboard, along with chipset controllers, management engine everything I could get my hands on.
DDU installed in safe mode and then test every single gpu driver from 378.something to 552.something. And I mean every single one.
As of now I am on 21h1 without any updates applied to it whatso ever, Before I upped to this version everything that's cpu heavy (ac origins, odyssey, even valhalla, witcher 3,fallout 4 etc played decently as far as I remember) or single core/dual core reliant (older titles like grim dawn, or even more modern unity engine based games like darkest dungeon 2 or rogue trader) too. I've updated everything outside of the windows update itself on a brand new fresh install ( I don't keep personal files outside of games on this pc so that I can reinstall as much as I want. Outside of games the pc is running completely fine. The only bsod I've ever gotten was with riot anti cheat engine for some reason. I monitor the temps and it never overheats, cool as a cucumber. Back when I bought the pc and fresh installed windows (don't remember the precise version but I assume since it was 2019 it is somewhere aound 1809 on it ,everything ran smoothly beyond measure on. Like infamousl origins and odyssey on this well already extremely old pc they ran on high (outside of volumetric clouds and space reflections), smoothly without a hitch no stutter no tear no vsync nada only g-sync. Now I can't even run skyrim SE without it feeling weird(outside of the literally minus 30 fps.) For some laughable reason civ 6 and xcom 2 run fine or may be I just don't feel it as much since they are turn based.
So tldr - they only thing I haven't tried is going back to older version of windows .

Just a small update - I reinstalled an old image of 1809 I had and voala everything runs fine again. So yea the up mentioned kb's I mentioned seem to mess the cpu scheduling somehow.
