Using an SSD with an HDD

I am building my first PC and going with a pretty standard storage choice, using an SSD for OS and applications, and HDD for other files.

I am using an Asus Strix z270e which has raid support 0, 1, 5, 10.

Will I need to use raid to get the best performance? And if I do, how can I do that?

Thank you

no do not raid an ssd and a hdd. only raid ssds with ssds of exact same amount of storage space and hdd with hdds with exact same amount.

e.g. samsung 950 ssd 250gb raid 0 with samsung 950 ssd 250gb raid 0 to make a storage drive of 500gb. or 2 wd 1tb in raid 1 to make a mirror 1 tb in storage.

tl;dr. do not raid ssd and hdd together.

Thanks

From what I understood, it is something pretty similar to SLI in GPUs right?

Honestly, I wouldn't RAID SSDs at all. Putting them in RAID 0 has little impact on real world performance while increasing chance of failure. RAID 1 also has little impact on performance, and if you're doing it to protect from drive failure you're probably better off just having a normal backup.
