Using an UPS or directly plug PSU to the wall?

I have an recently purchased EVGA GQ gold PSU so I was wandering how do i protect it from surges, blackouts etc? Is a $100 UPS worth? or I should plug the psu directly to the wall?

UPS- Can protect from surged, brownouts and give you time to save data and do a normal shutdown during a blackout.

Straight to the wall offers no protections and is not recommended, you want atleast a decent surge protector for some protection.

Assuming the UPS is large enough to power the system during the brownout.
