Hi all, first time poster here. Loving this website thus far.
My problem is I want to use my apple headphones as a microphone for gaming. . They are the standard new "Ear buds" that come with new apple phones. . I have tested the mic on calls with my phone and know that the mic on them works.
After searching previous threads, I discovered that a splitter should solve my problem (or so I thought). So I purchased this item. I plug the pink part into the mic input on my PC, set it up as "Mic input" through Realtek HD Audio Manger, go into sound settings device manager and make sure that the front port is set as the default recording device, and make sure the levels are high enough. But it still doesn't work!! What gives?? I'm so frustrated. .
Another strange thing i'll mention is that when i speak into the mic, the levels test indicator does not move at all. . .However when I press the Mic button (i think its a mute button?) on the headphones, the levels will jump to full and then go back down again. Not sure if that means anything.
My system is a Gigabyte H110M-A motherboard with Realtek HD Audio and Windows 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I got nowhere after hours of google searches 🙁
Thank you!
Greg
