Hi,
I have a wireless network with a linksys wrt610n as the gateway to the outside world. The network used WPA-PSK encryption.
What i want to do is use an old Belkin F5D7230-4 router as a bridge to connect an old PC to the linksys network. The PC will connect to the Belkin with ethernet cable and then the Belkin should wirelessly connect to the Linksys router and from thereon to the internet.
I've read through most of the related posts on this forum and they mainly talk about using a Belkin router as a bridge when the gateway is also a Belkin router. I tried to setup the Belkin as an access point last night, but while i could ping both the Belkin router and the linksys, the Belkin AP was not recognized as a wireless client by the Linksys router. I had put the WLAN MAC addresses of the two routers in each other's recognized MAC address list and thought that should work, but no joy.
Three questions:
1. Has anyone got this setup to work before ?
2. Do i need to flash a custom firmware like DD-WRT or Tomato to either router to make this work ?
3. One thought was that the WPA encryption might be the problem ? Can anyone confirm whether that is likely.
