Question Using dicrete GPU on main laptop display

Laptop: Alienware r4
So, I travel maybe 3-4 times a month with my laptop.

At home, I have a second monitor and my laptop automatically changes the used gpu to my gtx 1070.
However, when i'm not at home, it is always using the intel gpu.

I've tried a lot of things I found online, is there a way i can fix this ?

What have you tried, exactly? We don't want to be repeating steps you've already tried and had no fruition. Are you on the latest BIOS update for your laptop? If so, see if uninstalling the GPU drivers, using DDU and then reinstalling the latest drivers found off of Nvidia's support site aids to the cause.
