Using DVI-I as DVI-D

Can I use a DVI-I cable as a DVI-D by bending the 4 pins extra and plugging it in? Would this cause any issues or would it simply not work, or would it work fine?

My PHILIPS 226V3L to be connected to my PC (nVidia GT610), DVI-D goes in Monitor and VGA goes in graphics card.
Currently have a VGA to VGA connection and I'm getting 'lines' across my screen, not very visible but more like static. I think it is a cable problem so I am trying to change the cable to see if that is the problem. The monitor however seems to have good quality when connected to my playstation via a HDMI - DVI-D connection. Therefore, I got this new cable, but I got a DVI-I by accident. My graphics card also has a DVI slot, which is a DVI-I, so I tried connecting the cables the other way around, but the monitor gave me an image half of the size of the monitor with no taskbar.

Both ends connect to plugs, they are not plugs themselves, I think that's called male.
One end is VGA and the other is a DVI-I.
I cannot take it back as it is already opened and I need to use 3 monitors that's why I'm using all 3 ports, so my only solution is buying a new cable or bending the pins, hence why I am asking this question.
Thanks for your help!

No it won't.

Three monitors has been possible for quite a while on many low-performance GPUs - HD4000 for example.

It's total resolution that matters more than the number of displays, and even then no modern GPU is going to have trouble pushing say 6M pixels (3x1080p) if it's not got any 3D rendering.

At max only 1 screen for gaming, the other one is most likely to be hooked to my PS4 but if I have all 3 connected at any time and am gaming, 1 will be for the game, 1 for looking up items or strategies and 1 for casual stuff, lets say skype to see who is talking. It will be able to keep up right?
