What are your thoughts on this? I seem a little weary on trying to flash the bios of my video card.
I have all the info and programs and what not.....but I'm not sure where to find my old bios to back it up. I have nvflash and stuff....but where is the damn bios??

I wrote a guide on this in the overclock 3dsection, but why the hell would you want to use a GT bios for your ultra card, it wouldn't work because the ram is different. What do you want to change?

btw <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=687934#687934" target="_new">here</A> is the guide, it's titled 6800GT volt mod but that process works for all nvidia cards. I still see no reason why would you want to downgrade your bios.

What are you talking about?

That's why im asking. I want to know what the hell this guy is talking about. It didn't sound that great of an idea, but thats why I asked here to get a better understanding of why in the world would you do it. I was ready to do it, but I dont want to f it up.

I don't know if it's worth it. It's been done alot but it's probably better left to the guys going for the highest 3dMark score.

I tried it and my card worked fine, performance per clock increased a bit, but my max o/c went down notably, so without watercooling I personally wouldn't bother.

But for sure it works.

Have you tried to up voltage to 1.5V? That failed for me🙁

I think most 6800ultra with proper cooling should reach 470mhz no problem, since BFG has a watercooled 6800ultra that's clocked at 470/1100, and its default voltage is still at 1.4V
