Hi, i've just got my glasses yesterday (i see things far and and even close ish kinda blurry) however im wondering if i should use my glasses when using the pc too? would i get any disadvantages or advantages? i feel like they make my screen a bit more yellow (not by much tho maybe 10-20%) and the screen looks a bit more blurry too, to make it easier to understand its like having 2x msaa (glasses off) vs fxaa (glasses on) it kinda gives me a small headcache too, or its just the fact that i didnt use them enough, having said that is there any reason to using the glasses when gaming ? (im using a 24inch screen 1080p btw)
also if any of you have glasses do you use them or do you take them off?
im open to questions or suggestions

I'm nearsighted and have a astigmatism. It's not super bad, actually i just barely need glasses. I don't need them at all to see my computer screen. Whether I have them on or off it doesn't make a difference.

It took my eyes about 2 weeks to adjust. During that time objects were skewed so that one side was shorter in height than the other. Was very weird looking at computer screens. The reason the doctors want you to wear them as much as you can is for your eyes to adjust. I'm not sure what this yellow tint you get is but given enough time you will adjust to it and won't notice it.

Give your body time to adjust if the yellow screen is bothering you, you can always adjust the color settings on your monitor to compensate.

Just because she is "older" does not mean s/he does not know what people do with PC's, including gaming.
I'd hazard a guess that I am significantly older than your optician, I play games on the PC, and I wear glasses. I've worn glasses every day for over 50 years.

If you are supposed to wear glasses, then you are supposed to wear glasses.

And if this is your first time wearing glasses, and this is brand new...it takes some time for your eyes and brain to adjust.

I wear glasses and never take them off except to sleep. The point is that if your vision is bad at the distance between you and your monitor with your glasses on then your lenses are not right for you. Glasses are meant to correct your vision at all distances. As far as the yellowing goes, I do not have that problem. On or off my monitor looks the same.

The headaches will go away after about a week. Your eyes need to adjust to the new normal. They were trying to compensate for your bad vision on their own before and now need to learn how to relax again. Taking your glasses on/off will only make this process take longer.

He does know what screen use is though, like virtually every office worker on the planet does day in day out. It's all about distance to the screen and what your eye can work with, they might suggest that you are sitting too close or too far.

As above time to adjust is key.

When you went to the eye doctor did you tell her that you use a computer screen (I don't think gaming or browsing or whatever makes a difference)? Perhaps the prescription you were given isn't right for what you need to do work on a computer, or as said above, it will take a while for your eyes to adjust to glasses. I have that issue with each new set of glasses, it just takes a while. Because I am on the computer a lot, my latest prescription was for tri-focals, which really takes some getting use to.

yes i explained her good, she understood what i am doing, ill just try to use them all the time then, tho the screen looking more yellow and stuff in general really makes me sad, it would have looked so much better if the glasses didnt change the color

you could get one of the prescription that have the transitions in them, they actually adjust when looking at computer monitors to a blue filter type and make screen look clear and you tire less watching the monitors, I had them before my Lasik 10 years ago and it worked very good. I would ask your optometrist about transition lenses options for your prescription

Astigmatism is a whole different annoyance. ^^^ When I get a new pair of glasses, for about a week or so, flat walls look slightly curved, but eventually my eyes and brain adjust. I have my glasses on from the time I wake up until going to bed, so the adjustment happens fairly quickly. The only time I can't use my glasses is if I need to get really close to something, like inside of a computer case, or soldering something. From about 12 inches in, I need to take off my glasses to be able to see clearly for detailed work.

I wear glasses myself, and I noticed that I get bad eyestrain when viewing my IPS monitor I wonder if it's because of settings DPI or something wrong because on my laptop's screen I don't get it at all.
