I have a Yamaha WX-030 device that I can use as a regular computer bluetooth speaker. There is also ethernet connection where I can cast music from Windows Media Player. I would like to know if it is possible to use the WX-030 as a wired computer speaker via ethernet cable. This device shows up under System>Sound as a bluetooth speaker but not as "ethernet speaker". This device outputs very solid audio and would be ideal as a regular wired computer speaker.

One of the reason why I do not want to use bluetooth to connect this device is I have 2 other bluetooth headsets and it is a hassle to choose/pair these all the time.

Any tips will be appreciated.

This speaker?

The Owner's Manual, physically numbered Page 3 indicates that an Ethernet cable can be used.

And from the specifications: "Ethernet interface....................................100Base-TX/10Base-T" (Page 20 En).

Unfortunately, Page 6 is quite vague regarding wired connectivity and does not appear to provide any information regarding device configuration for wired use.

And, for the record, I would not expect the use of STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) for Ethernet connectivity. Will defer that matter to the audiophiles....

Thanks for replying, I also read the manual and could not find a solution to my question. I was hoping someone has a hack how to connect it as a regular computer speaker via ethernet. I can stream music to it natively using Win11 Pro.

Note that Windows 11 does not differentiate between ethernet connected devices such as speakers and wireless bluetooth connected speakers. It simply lists the device on the device page in the Other Devices category. Streaming to the device on ethernet depends on the software you're using and its output format. For example, I can stream to my sound bar using the Chrome browser if I set it to an internet radio station and the click on the little musical symbol on the menu bar Control your music videos and more which then opens a little menu box that says Cast to a device and then I can select my soundbar which is connected by ethernet to my home network. Note that I have wireless bluetooth turned off and the wired connection still works and the soundbar front panel says bluetooth Chrome Audio Mirroring even though its ethernet. You might be able to achieve similar results if you use Chrome as your playback app rather than Windows Media Player which doesn't include casting ability.

Thanks. I only want to use the unit as a regular computer speaker.
