Using old windows 8.1 key on new ssd (Same computer)

I am changing from a hard drive to an ssd (finally) and I want to know how easy it is to use the same key I used to install windows on the same machine.

This is just moving to an SSD using a clean install (Don't want to bring over old graphics drivers).

The same question with visual studio 2013 - can i use the same key easily.

If it's windows 8 and it was the pre-installed version. Then i'll guarantee it works. The code is in the BIOS so you'll just need to log in to your microsoft account after the installation is finished.

Then everything should work fine. If it doesn't work you'll have to set up an live account on the HDD and sync it, then log in to the SSD with the same account and everything should be fine.
