[SOLVED] Using the Line In for game consoles

Hello,

I have an ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E, and like most motherboards, I have a Line In input. With my setup, I actually have my game consoles hooked up to a HDMI switch that goes to my ASUS monitor, which has an audio output. Using a stereo cable, I have connected that audio output to the line in on my motherboard. This allows me to listen to my game consoles using my PC headphones. It's a pretty sweet setup

Anyways, I have noticed some issues.

1. There seems to be a low buzzing noise. If I raise the audio, the game audio and buzzing noise increase.
2. I noticed that in Animal Crossing on Switch, the music sounds fine but when I talk to the villagers, their audio is very low. Almost non-existent.

Is that line in on my motherboard intended to do what I am doing? When I read about the line in, most articles point to hooking up musical instruments to it, but nothing along my means.

Is there a better alternative? Maybe a sound card or USB device that is intended to bring in my audio to my PC and hear it?

The first problem sounds like a grounding issue. Is everything hooked up to the same circuit?

After some troubleshooting, I took the monitor out of the equation and my problems were solved
