Using VGA to HDMI adapter on a CRT monitor, but screen turns black randomly

I have connected my GTX 1050ti to my CRT monitor 1024x768@85Hz using an Active VGA to HDMI adapter. It was working flawlessly until a few days ago. But now, the screen turns black randomly, and I have to unplug and plug in the adapter again. sometimes it keeps happening rapidly that I have to restart the system...
My GPU works flawlessly using a HDMI port on a 1080p@60Hz monitor

What do you guys think?
What is my problem here?

Does the adapter have a micro usb port or some other usb port for supplemental power? If so plug that in.

Has the CRT monitor done this before? I'm sure it's getting up there in age.

If it's not the monitor it is likely the adapter. What adapter is it? Does it have a brand name and model number?

The adapter doesn't have a USB port.
The monitor was working fine using the VGA port only (without adapters) with my previous GPU.
and It doesn't have the model written on it, but it is from ASUS...
