Utorrent port connections for Sony Vaio Laptop

I am having difficulty obtaining adequate connections using uTorrent - laptop connection is fine with speed check download 1406 kb/s & upload 405 kb/s - utorrent configured as advised but ports only seem to last on line for seconds or perhaps a couple of minutes & then the green connector icon goes to the orange triangle
