I had major issues with the GA-P55M-UD4 motherboard when using the Crucial modules; the system would endlessly reboot and not even post. The reviews on Newegg list several other people that have had similar issues with the newer P55 motherboards and this Crucial kit. I'm hoping it can be addressed with a bios revision at some point, but people should know that the problems exist.

It was still $70 earlier this week and cannot be updated daily. The article was written three weeks ago, blame the process by which it was not published until today.

I'm as surprised as you: It's still listed for $67 on PriceGrabber, and I'm not certain if the article could have been updated quickly enough to reflect the change. I think the price was actually changed some time between yesterday night and this morning, and may have even been current in the early morning hours that the article was published.
It would be great if a product could be "unawarded" but that's impossible. I'll contact Crucial and see if we can get them to help with the pricing, at least until the end of the month.

Amazon.com has the Crucial now for $80. Now for more bad news: We can expect this trend to continue as people shift from dollars to comodities to protect their wealth. Spot prices are still trending upward on the DRAM Exchange, and since this appears to be a problem with the US dollar I expect drastic swings in the prices of other components will follow.

The true value a RAM offers is worldwide lifetime warranty, and i would like to see this kind of information on the article. Maybe if and when memory speed and timings offers real advantage in games this kind of article holds any utility. Is there any reason i should stop buying Dominators in Brazil or Dubai? Corsair exchanges any kit sold anywhere in the Globe. Readers and buyers would benefit if the article told what other Brands offers this type of warranty. The same reasoning guides my choice of HDDs: it is Seagate or nothing else thanks to the worldwide warranty.

Would have been nice to see some gaming and app benchmarks... I guess the differences are too miniscule but even for a few samples would have been more reassuring...

I noticed on the Intel DP55KG MB it states that it can't handle anything over 1.65 volts. I was going to use Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 Ram which runs at 1.65. Just worried I will fry something or it wont work properly. Should I just stick with the slower 1333 1.5 volt XMS3?

1.65V is Intel's stated limit for the processor's built-in memory controller. Using that setting shouldn't hurt the processor.

I just checked the price of the Crucial memory (CT2KIT25664BA1339) on their site, and the price has gone from $67.99 to $113.99 - what a joke. Please do not give any more "best of" awards, looks like the manufacturers take it as license to raise the price out of my range.

You might be part-right. According to what we could find, the price was $67 when we published the article and $113 a few hours later. But this price increase has been a long-time coming, and it's possible that Crucial was simply holding back it's price increase for a long time before coincidentally increasing it within hours of publication.
The good news is that Amazon had it for $80.

We had a problem with the former Patriot kit where its heat spreaders appeared to hinder overclocking, and have every reason to believe the current kit uses the same chips as the Crucial kit but with slightly lower overclocking capability that might be attributable to less-than-perfect conduction to the heat spreaders. With no hard data and a few real-world results that appear to indicate a problem with thermal tape performance, I wouldn't take a chance.

The prices of all products are going up before they mark them back down "For Sale" after Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.. It's a marketing gimmick. Prices for the Crucial set I've bought on 9/3/2009 at Newegg was at $64.99 with Free Shipping. It's been rising since, as with prices for everything else. It's currently $88.99 plus Shipping at Newegg right now.
Wait until the holiday season, prices will all drop back down to "normal" prices soon enough.
