Hi, I recently acquired a good condition Digital Venturis 5100 (date stamp 25 Apr 96!) which I've stripped down. I plan to restore it, rebuild it and install Windows 95 on it.

What would the value of this PC be when refurbished to "like new" condition? It's one of Digital's last desktop computers they ever made and I thought that might make it a collectors item.

I plan to:
-Reverse the yellowing on the plastic
-Thoroughly clean all dust from the system
-Replace the key lock
-Replace the Dallas clock chip
-Probably more, will think of more to do

Specs:
Pentium 100MHz (Socket 5)
64MB SIMM (4x16mb)
Onboard S3 Trio64
Sound Blaster 16 ISA
48x CD-ROM
545.5 MB IDE HDD

Solution

Unfortunately, that's not what it "goes for," it's what someone has asked for it and not sold it at. I can also find the GTX 1050 Ti being offered for $1300.

Literally. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Inno3D-Nvi...681379?hash=item48c8c026e3:g:0lQAAOSw~25c1shS

The pricing only matters if people have paid this amount of money for similar listings.

I would guess under $200 at most from the exact right bidder, but this isn't my exact area of expertise. While I've been around for a long time...

I would guess under $200 at most from the exact right bidder, but this isn't my exact area of expertise. While I've been around for a long time, nothing strikes me as particularly interesting about this particular PC. But I could be wrong, I'd suggest asking at a specialty forum like:

They can probably give you a better idea of what a collector could be interested in. In my limited experience, a lot of these people are interested in working originals more than refurbished. My "$200 at most" guess could be low or it could be wildly high.
