[citation][nom]IQ11110002[/nom]Half Life 3 please, And if it isn't then get to it anyway! And don't cater to the console hardware first, Make it purely for the best pc tech out there and then filter it down to other markets, Not the other way around where we get some crap console port.[/citation]

you mean you want them to say "screw the vast majority of pc gamers, we are making this for rich kids"

keep in mind , half life 2 came out and it ran beautifully on my computer at teh time which was 2 years old when the game came out, and it was made purely for pc , it just catered to every pc gamer , not just every rich pc gamer only.

i wish you rich kids would stop thinking about just yourself , there is a larger world out there and teh vast majority of pc gamers don't have top tech you goob. valve builds for teh majority and they need to stick to that , and no i don't mean they need to build for consoles , i mean they need to build for low , and mid end pc's like they have done so far.

[citation][nom]wooodoggies[/nom]thats right dumbasses, just sit on your couch and wait for a video game. it is amazing how people will find something to make them useless.[/citation]

Like queuing up for the next iDevice 2 weeks in advance isn't being useless either.

I don't give two shits either about how your poor! I don't want my 2 year old computer to play it maxed out! I hope HL3 is using the next engine source may or may not be developing and I have to put it down on lower settings, but it still looks like BF3 did before they added all the filters! Which was F'ing amazing! And please Valve, no more teeter totter puzzles.

[citation][nom]anon3285234059[/nom]Top priority is to make sure that PC can handle Half-life 3 when it comes out! Must play it in all its glory!!![/citation]

In 2007 I built my new rig solely based around the release of Half-Life 2. Unfortunately, Valve dropped the ball and released quite a bit later than we were all told it would come out, after that big HL2 code theft that was released on the internet there was a big delay. I had and AMD dual core with an ATI 9800 Pro. HL2 was beautiful and everytime they even hint or suggest that they're underway with an HL3 or HL2: Ep. 3 I get gitty with excitement.

Half-Life is literally the best game series I have ever played and probably will ever play.

I still go back when I'm bored with hurrent games to play through HL:1 or any of it's sub releases. They need to make a Source Engine version of Opposing Force and Blue Shift. I know a mod group was independently working on Opp. Force, but it'd be nice for an official Valve release of these great expansions.

[citation][nom]hellfire24[/nom]Half Life>all COD![/citation]

Half Life > all Valve games.

Portal + L4Dead series = yawn.

I haven't bought a Valve game in ages.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]the day im to old for a video game is the day i die.[/citation]
Agreed, my father is still playing video games, as will I until I die.

[citation][nom]wooodoggies[/nom]thats right dumbasses, just sit on your couch and wait for a video game. it is amazing how people will find something to make them useless.[/citation]This coming from a guy who spends his afternoons trolling message boards. If you don't care about HL3, then why are you wasting your day reading articles about it and commenting?

[citation][nom]deejaybos[/nom]In 2007 I built my new rig solely based around the release of Half-Life 2....I had and AMD dual core with an ATI 9800 Pro..[/citation]Your data has me very confused:
November 2004 - Half Life 2 Released
2003 - 9800 Pro Released
May 2005 - Athlon 64 X2 Released

2007 - Your computer built for the Half Life 2 Release

Your chronology boggles the mind.

[citation][nom]RabidFace[/nom]I just don't care anymore.....about news that isn't giving an actual time frame. We all know HL3 or Episode 3 is in the works, but we all know how tight lipped Valve likes to be. So, all I'm doing is waiting patiently when they officially announce it. Hell, (for people that know) Black Mesa: Source will be out before either Episode 3 or HL3. I JUST WANT ONE RIGHT NOW DAMN IT! I will say, this will be the reason I build another computer. Haven't had a rig in quite a few years and my current laptop plays Source games. I also won't play Max Payne 3 till I have a rig again either. They are the two game IPs that should never see a controller. CoD I don't care about anymore, so that is saying something from me. It was also a sad day when I bought BF3 for my PS3.[/citation]
Yes, this is the stupid in me, to reply to my own reply because of thumbs down, but I don't care :)

Was saying we all know it's in the works, and news like this does hold us over, but in the end there is still no date in sight and I think that is what most of us want, nothing else. At least some kind of time frame. Not that I care about a date; I admire companies that take the "it's done when it's done" approach, but at least something that gives us some peace of mind. I wasn't saying I don't care about HL3 or Episode 3, I am just as eager as everyone else.

This game will also be the sole reason I actually build another computer. Money has been tight for quite some time, (reason for the PS3 and Laptop) but I will make it work when I know HL3 will be released 😀 This game will hopefully make history. It will show why you should own a PC (but consoles of course have their place. Just think of all the games that wouldn't be around if it wasn't for consoles) and why PC gaming is still and always will be king.

I also have, and always will have a soft spot for CoD, not that I don't care about it either. Been here since the beginning with most of the FPS franchises. But when my computers couldn't play current games, my PS3 did me just fine. BF3 is actually stuck in my dead PS3 🙁 But Half-Life and Max Payne will never be played with a controller by me :)

[citation][nom]Middleman[/nom]I'm 31, Gabe. I grew up with Half-Life. I was in high school when the original came out. At this pace, however, I'm going to be too GD old for video games by the time you release HL3, or Episode 3, or whatever the hell you're calling it now. Stop dicking us around, and release the game already, while it's still relevant to your fans. Otherwise, move onto a new IP for the next generation of fans, and knock off the proverbial dicktease.[/citation]

I'm 4....4? Wow. When did that happen? I grew up on gaming starting with a TRS80 model 1 followed by an Apple // - look up Odyssey: The Compleat Apventure for a glimpse of past adventure games. Of course Zork kinda started it all.

I have and enjoy an Xbox (playing Skyrim atm), PS3 (blu ray + Uncharted series), Wii (mostly for golf and kids) plus a fully capable pc gaming rig (2 actually - love playing co-op Serious Sam). Over the years, as I've discovered how much I enjoy playing on the comfy couch in front of my 58" plasma tv, I've been trending away from pc gaming. Even with my terrific office chair, 23" monitor and Klipsch 5.1 audio, I find the comfort of the couch beats the eye candy of the pc. Heresy, I know, but there it is.

To your point though, you are only as old as you think you are and I still think of myself as being in my 20s (most of the time), although a recent nagging wrist injury playing soccer with my son has reminded me that my body is unfortunately not 25. I still love gaming and don't expect that will ever change. Its a great escape. A good storyline in a well executed game (Half Life and Uncharted come to mind) can be as compelling as any books I read - with the added benefit that you get to be at the center of the action. Too old for gaming? Never!

And, yes, I can't wait for the consoles to get an upgrade.

when it comes to Gabe Newell and the supposed anticipation of half life 3 all that Gabe Newell has shown us customers in these long overdue years of waiting, is his incredible negligence and complete disregard for the games worldwide fan base.

with all this secrisey in half life's history I'm beginning to think that their is no half life3 being made at all and that gabe newell is full of rubbish, he wont even admit that this game is overdue

I think its safe to say that Gabe Newell time on the bosses seat has come to a end and that he should step down he has to go and someone else who can work hard and deliver results should be put in charge

man, half life 3, at this rate, will be the next duke nukem forever. the hype of it being the best game ever will kill it, and it may end up with terrible looking graphics, combined with a insanely long dev cycle. although, they could pull out that magic rabbit out of their hat again........

There is no such thing as being too old to play games. There is however, a thing such as video game addiction and letting them take over the important things in life - like an education, or being a parent.
