[citation][nom]teh_chem[/nom]Call me lazy, but I like the fact that I can zone-out in my chair and use my keyboard and mouse. I can already go outside when I want to physically interact with the world.[/citation]
How does a VR helmet prevent you from zoning-out in your chair with your mouse and keyboard 😛?

Don't get me wrong--I'm not saying that others might not find this appealing. But if it sits on your head, and I would assume (given how most helmet displays used for gaming applications go) you use your head to change your field of view (by moving your head back and forth). I'd rather stare in the same direction all the time (i.e., at my monitor) and use my mouse to move my fov and aim (assuming something like a FPS).

If I'm wrong, and moving your head doesn't change the field of view, then that makes this idea even less-worthwhile. Why would I want to pile a helmet on my head to hold a small monitor when I can just stare at the screen in front of me?

I get it--there are people that have the opposite perspective--why would they want to be distracted by everything in the "outside world" of their current game--no problem with that. It's not how I feel, but I'm totally cool if others agree, just sharing my perspective. :)

That is a good point that I did not of. If they are smart they would allow the option to turn on and off the head tracking for preference. The only real advantage of the headset besides head tracking and lack of outside distractions I would say would be being able to create a perfect 3d environment, which you also stated isn't appealing to you. You should check getting a projector for gaming, I can tell you from experience it is awesome!

Having been interested in technology, both on and off gaming, I really want a project like this to succeed in my life time. I would love to get the chance to play any type of game in VR based world.
