I like Steam/Valve, I really do. But here's the problem with them: They seem to get bored easily, jumping from one project to the next. They drop something good into the market and then appear to abandon it and move on to the next shiny engineering challenge. Or maybe they just don't like to compete in the marketspace: When rival companies create similar or competitive products, they take their ball and go home.
