Hi

I have had many BSOD's of various descriptions in the past month.

I suspect they may have to do with my running of Plex Media Server as they happen whenever I am viewing something on a Roku.

I have used Blue Screen View and they are variously described as from latest to older:

My OS is Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2

Hardware is Dell Vostro 200, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00 GHz, 2.00 GB RAM, 32 Bit Operating System

Please find the mini dumps attached as follows:

https://www.dropbox.com/l/scl/AADVV6RTGi40TLaSdTrrmkKRxg-3G5wKRGQ

I have done all the troubleshooting steps (various times):

  1. system file checker ie. sfc scannow
  2. hard disk scans via WD Data Life Guard and chkdsk
  3. Dell Hardware Diagnostics
  4. Windows RAM check diagnostic
There are no errors from any of the above.

I have also updated as many drivers as I can from Device Manager.

I have repaired installations of AVG (from the first instance of the BSOD) and Plex Media Server as well.

I am at a loss as to what to do.

Please help.

Umm, I would probably just replace the system at this point.

Vista...Core 2 Duo, and an original Dell power supply? Nice to see that it passed memtest and chkdsk, so I would lean towards power supply getting a little long in the tooth.

Spending money on hardware troubleshooting at this point will cost more time and money then it is worth overall. Troubleshooting software on a de-supported OS, well, not going to get any help from the vendors that is for sure. I'm all for updating everything.

$150, quad core, 4GB of RAM, and Windows 10 Pro. Worth it just for the OS and CPU.

$180, slightly newer quad core, 8GB of ram

And so on. I snagged an i7-4790 not too long ago for about $220. There are also models out there where the business swapped in an SSD.

Also smaller form factors to look at if this is a living room PC. A 4th gen NUC and an external hard drive might be worth a look.

6th gen chips are still a bit expensive to get, but I wouldn't go below 4th gen if you want it to last a few years.
