SSD by far. With current HDD tech you can't get SSD speeds without the HDD spinning so fast it flies off (that's not an exaggeration).

By SLC I assume you mean an SSD with SLC NAND which is highly reliable, however limited to very high end enterprise drives.

Newer solid state drives are much faster of course. Even a budget Samsung 850 Evo maxes the SATA 3 ( 6Gb/s ) interface.
