VersionTech EACH G2000 headset microphone level stuck at the top

When I try to speak to anybody using my microphone on Steam or Discord, the microphone level is always at the top. It was working perfectly, but now when I try to use it, it won't pick up my voice unless I move very close to the microphone, and then it is very distorted.

I really couldn't tell you for sure, but it sounds to me like the mic is dead. Seems like that kind of result...

Not all mics are created equal, and there isnt much to check for failure between the hardware and driver. Probably the best overall suggestion is dont buy a headset without researching reviews from various sites. my rule of thumb is to get an op\timal result of 90 from the 4 and five star user ratings. secondly a trusted audio name. I researched all my recent purchases for maybe as long as a year before i paid for it. those head pho\nes only total a 60 percent 4/5 star rating on amazon, you can translate that into a high defect or failure rate, or a poor manufacturing practice
