So recently my USB Mic started getting an extremely loud/static/constant background input no matter where I plug it in. If I go to "Recording Devices" settings the green bars are all the way to the top, not fluctuating, as if Im screaming in to it. I pressed "listen to this device" and its just loud static.
Next morning I wake up, go to the Recording Devices and green bars are back down to normal, fluctuating when I speak w/o background noise. Some time goes by and In the middle of a CS game my friend tells me that my mic is busted again, I check recording devices and ofcourse green bars are all the way to the top with constant static background noise. So for the past weeks its been coming and going like that which makes no sense. Note that I dont hear any of that sort in my headset.
Next is where it gets dumb. If I put my finger on any USB port/Jack on my tower my Mic goes back to normal. If I place my arm on the side of the case...it goes back to normal. So I start thinking its some kind of grounding issue within my PC, but why would it come and go?
So I take my mic and plug it in to the laptop in he living room and as long as the charger is connected to the laptop my mic gets busted, I put my hand on the laptop and it goes back to normal just like on my main tower. If I unplug the laptop charger Mic goes back to normal.
WTF is going on? How could the outlets in my entire apartment just, I guess, lose ground all of a sudden, then go back to normal? What should I do? Im not trying to literally damage EVERYTHING electronic connected to the outlets or start a fire, but I dont even know what to tell the people who run these apartments.
