Very Very Strange USB Device Problems

Ok so first here is a description of exactly what is happening. While I'm in the middle of a game (dota 2) randomly my mouse, headset, and to some extent my keyboard stop working, and even when i close the game or minimize they stay broken. Not only do they just stop working, they sometimes start to bug out, most noticeably my mouse. It will sometimes skip, pause for a second and work again, or most strangely start moving extremely slow as if the DPI was lowered. The headset will sometimes start crackling with static. These devices also usually do this at the same time. Its also worth noting that when this happens to the mouse, it still says it is powered (the LED lights stay lit), although it does flash on and off occasionally. Sometimes unplugging it and plugging it back in over and over again works to fix it for a while, but usually i must restart the computer.

Probably the strangest thing that happens is with my keyboard. Now my keyboard has never fully stopped working, but when this problem starts to occur with my mouse and headset, I have noticed that a few random keys stop working. For instance, this just happened mid game, and when I tried to type I found the M key, the O key, and a few number keys stopped working. But everything else worked fine and a restart resolved it. Also when this happens, its not always the same keys that stop working, it changes it up sometimes. What the hell does this mean???

Now this problem has happened for a long time, on and off again. My computer is only a little over a year old and I will post the specs at the end of this. When I first got my computer, I played the game for months with no problems. Then all of a sudden this issue started occurring. I managed to fix it by updating drivers and that resolved the problem for about 7 months, now all of a sudden it is happening again, and I checked and all my drivers are updated. And this phenomenon only happens during a game, never when just browsing the internet or something. Please help me solve this mysterious problem!

Solution
Try the Driver reinstall... Also you may want to think simpler!

1) Unplug and replug your USB devices... My CM Siris 5.1 Headset does that to me often. I unplug/replug and it works.

2) Make sure your Power supply isnt dying or to low of a wattage. I had an older setup where my keyboard worked i bought a new Keyboard with Leds and display on it, and it wouldnt power on at all. Bought a different brand, samething happened. Found out my PSU was like 4% under full load threshold
Well, first thing I would do is reinstall the driver, again.
Next, it appears that you have alot of stuff installed, try removing junk that you don't use.
Then go thru your windows event viewer in the admin/control panel and see if there is anything regarding your USB hubs in there.

Solution

Ok, so I tried re-installing and still the same problem. Also I checked in the event viewer but I don't think I saw anything related to the USB hubs. As far as removing junk I don;t use, what exactly are you referring to that I should try clearing out?

And vipboy28, Unplugging and re-plugging doesn't help prevent the problem, and only rarely fixes the problem as it is happening. Usually when I unplug and re-plug it just keeps making the sound as if you just connected a usb device, and the mouse powers up, but it still doesn't work and I have to reset.

As for the power supply issue, This problem went away for like 7 months with no problems and then all of a sudden came back one day, so I doubt its a power supply problem, but just in case, how could I check?

Remove junk. Like software you don't use in programs and features. Try to minimize programs that you have running in the background. You can get software utilities to give you a ballpark figure on how much power your PSU is putting out, like HWMonitor from cpuid, although it might not work because it's a OEM HP machine. I was thinking try to play the game(s) with just your mouse and keyboard plugged in, remove all other usb devices including printers, and any external usb hubs.
