Hi, I was using a VGA cable to connect my PC to a screen, working fine, with the screen brand and resolution options properly identified. But I try a new VGA cable (only wanted slightly longer), and the screen is no longer able to have the proper resolution. [and when I put back the original VGA cable the screen resolution works fine again. Any idea why and how to remedy?

how long is the cable? i'm running a 15-foot to my TV and it's fine. are you trying to run 60 feet of it or something silly? there's a limit to how far the signal can go without falling apart. if you're under 10 feet, it's likely a crap cable. then again, i buy my cables on eBay (seller is usually Yellow Price) and have no problems. heck, the 15ft cable also has an audio cable tied into it.
