I recently came home to a crashed system and a VGA light on my 970SC and my SSD will not boot/recognize. The system will boot onto secondary harddrives.
Motherboard: Z170A SLI PLUS
GPU: EVGA 970 SC
SSD: 850 EVO
PSU: CX500M
OS: W10
RAM: GSKILL DDR4 RIPJAW
I've recently purchased a 2070 and an m.2 ssd and have installed both. Same thing. VGA light. Both cards will turn on and receive power.
My CURRENT set up is the same. Except the EVGA 2070 and an evo plus 970 m2 instead of my 850.
Problem solved: SSD drive died, backup drivers on other harddrives were severely out of date. After connecting via wifi card and upgrading my W7 to W10 and then using the media creation tool in W10 I put it into a flashdrive and reinstalled on my M.2 and downloaded the correct drivers.
