Vga light not turning on

So today was my first time building a pc and Ive putted together everything and it seems to work fine except that my monitor (tv&monitor) doesnt show anything and on the motherboard the vga light doesnt turn on. I tried connecting the hdmi to my graphics card and still nothing. Also after a while my pc turns off on its own, I dont know if its something important...

Does your gpu require any additional power connectors? If so are you sure they are plugged in properly? You are plugging your monitor to the gpu and not the motherboard? Does your board come with any ez debug leds?

I connected my gpu to the psu and it seems to he working fine. I plugged the vga to the mobo since my gpu only has hdmi and dvi (I think thats how its called) ports. Now Im not sure what these lights are it just has 4, cpu, ram, vga and boot. The first 2 turn on normally and the other 2 dont turn on at all. Ill try getting a new cable today since the one I have is very old to see if that's the problem

You will not get any display by plugging your monitor to your motherboard-your system does not have integrated graphics, this is why you need a gpu.

But I do have the gpu in my motherboard. Shouldnt it work if I putted the vga cable on the motherboard instead of the gpu since it doesnt have a vga port?

No. For signal to be coming from the gpu you need to plug a display to the gpu. It doesn't magically re-wire/re-direct signals so you can use any port on the system.

Oh ok I didnt know that. And I guess the hdmi doesnt work at first because it doesnt have the drivers installed? So I have tk buy a dvi cable for it to work

Do you have any sort of display at your house that has a HDMI port? If yes then plug one end of the hdmi cable to your GPU and the other end to the display (whether its a monitor, tv screen etc).

I plug the hdmi to my tv and it still says no signal tho
