I have a nvidia card with a DVI-I cable connection only but my monitor has a DVI-D and VGA.
I have been using a VGA to DVI-I adapter to connect both and recently I've been noticing flickering and random screen going black while playing War Thunder.

Is this happening because of the game (flicker and black screen happens only while playing that game) or because of the adapter ?

just find a dvi-d to dvi-d cord but I use vga from the monitor [old crt] to dvi-''i'' from the card 980ti] and alls good unless you got some kinda unsupported resolution its trying to force ?

what funny to me is dvi-I supports analog signal as vga but dvi-d is digital only ?? so why have a vga and dvi-d on the monitor to start with ?? I see a lot of monitors set up like that ?

seems just use a dvi-I and vga ports and nothing gets confused and dvi-d will plug in to dvi-I just will carry digital signal only ??

ya, but his monitor has vga and dvi''D'' is what I'm saying as funny to why ? one port on his monitor is analog only and one is digital only when they could of out a dvi''I'' on it and did it all

I'd also check all the adaptor and any connection may of got a bad / loose connection like one of the pins not making as good of contact ?/

try another driver if you had updated NVidia seems to be struggling with there releases lately [starting to make amd drivers look good ] lol....

I had a vga so i just bought a vga to dvi-I adapter.
all the cables and pins are fine. i just want to make sure what is causing this so i dont buy a dvi-d to dvi-i cable and end up still having all the flickering problem.

I'm well connected to the forums and those post you linked to are from old update i posted here to ask question about the cable.

Everything software related is updated, used ddu to remove old amd and nvidia both to do a clean reinstall on nvidia.
