VGA wont connect to windows 10

I have my laptop that was a windows 7 premium, and i just upgraded it to windows 10. Half of the screen is broken so i use a monitor that is VGA only, but after i upgraded to windows 10, the monitor doesn't even get detected and i cant use my laptop, anyone know why this is happening?

Press the Windows logo key and the P key, then see if you can select Extend.
